Chapter One Bar

Chapter One bar looks relatively boring from the outside but unlike most one the strip this one has a rather grumpy looking bouncer outside but he lets us in with a smile and past a small entrance room we make our way past a second door into the body of the venue. There is a lot to look at; the bar glows and changes different colours as you wait at it for a drink. The walls are messy with blackboards offering deals on cocktails (with no physical menu available). Other boards display the week schedule for the venue showing live jazz some nights. We make do with the deep bass chill out that plays as we drink. There appear to be a young clientele but the place is not crowded, in fact it seems largely undiscovered. Fresh fruit sitting on the bar and attractive bar staff are attentive to the order at hand (perhaps too much so as we wait impatiently for overly presented cocktails.

Other features include abundent couches and a deep dark feeling the venue gives as it drifts off towards the rear - fairly good for snuggling up with a loved one with candles about the place and thai food also available apparently. The dark walls and oddity lamps add flavours of the random art-like-jumble sale that grows the further back we venture. Quite different from the other offerings on this strip but worth a look in - 6/10
