Albert and Pearl Bar

Replacing the old Medicine bar in Upper Street the Albert and Pearl bar (weird name if you ask me) is more like a pub now than a bar yet with qwerty additions such a bulk shots for low prices and more obscure spirits. The clientele are of an odd assortment with the old among the young and the place has an oaky old-world middle earth feel to it, perhaps its all the dark woods on walls and floor. Out front girls natter away, a couple of old ladies glare at us as we enter for a quick drink. Somehow the new owners of this place have succeeded in turning a popular bar into an old man pub. A turnaround which somewhat impresses me.

Overall I think I would probably shoot up to this end of upper street simply for the Jager deal etched on the back wall of the bar on a small blackboard but I guess it is also a good place to graba  drink and have a quiet conversation, trying to steer clear of the over-crowding that happens in bars closer to Angel Station - 5/10

I frequented this bar for the first time last week to have a quiet brew saw some interesting faces. Really nice to find a place of refuge in the midst of chaos (all that frikin construction) on upper street. The name of the place caught my eye and sensed a poetic inspiration to write. A cool place to chill and write.
