The Counting House

I read online that this place was once a bank and its superior decor really plays tribute to grander times and designs. The ceiling inside is very high, walls are decorated in works of art, the centre bar is a tall affair decorated with alcohol and wines. The venue splits into the ground floor and a galley which glances down from above onto the drinkers below who sit musing at the layout on varnished wooden stools of varying heights. The beauty of the place steals away the dark parts of the bar which include no real music, an overly suited atmosphere (but this is reflective of the location) and pricey beverages.
Having said this though it is difficult to discount an air of awe you feel within as you finish up a stern pint, a good representation of an old grand English pub but its mannerisms feel very chain-like and this somewhat dampens what could be a great venue - 6/10
