The Yacht Inn

Near the border of Northern Wales in Wirral, the Yacht in stands majestically alone at the side of a country road as a proper family pub and eatery, set out on two floors. The venue is pretty spacious, there is a small beer garden in the back beside the car park and the interior is scattered with comforts like open fires, carpets, stools and high tables and low seating, booths and side tables. The bar service is pretty fast and friendly (even if they appear to bicker amongst themselves) but the food comes out quickly and the alcohol is very well priced. The Yacht does remain pretty quiet though, you would expect some music at least to be played over the noise of families but it is silenced and coming from a single whisper in a forgotten corner, it seems.
Overall a venue which will appeal to families and older people who are looking for a nice sit down cod and chips by the side of the road in this northern comfort zone but little to offer the real drinker, the youths or those on the thrill seeking adventure of a night out - 5/10

I’m going tomorrow for the first time in 30 years when the occasion then was the final stop in a treasure hunt-my brother reckons its good for the kids and family budget for a good sunday lunch. I’ll let you know.

awful experience of dining…..after an hours wait for the food the meals came and were tasteless. we both had a curry and both looked as if they had been watered down to go further, and i have found more meat in a clear soup!!

Very disappointing … a 40 minute wait (told would be 15 when ordering) and then 3 out of 4 meals & our 2 side orders were sent back. Manager agreed meals were wholly unsatisfactory (2 supposedly well done steaks arrived pink, a fish which was akin to rubber & 2 portions of inedible onion rings ). He endeavoured to redress matters with 3 fresh meals and accompanying side orders but sadly it did not compensate for a resulting dining experience where one diner had finished his meal before two of the replacement meals and side orders arrived & the fourth meal served up only after they too had finished. It may be a 2 for 1 budget eaterie but I would only score the quality 3 out of 10 (at best) on this occasion.

I have been to this pub lots of times and have to say I have never had a bad meal or experience there..the kids love the playground in the back and the food is great value for money. We have booked for our xmas day lunch here and cant wait. 10/10

came to the yacht on 12 december 2009 as been there before and food was good however this time the food was awful we waited about an hourand when it eventually came the chips on all 6 meals were luke warm the burger buns were like house bricks my husband had the 6oz steak asked for it to be cooked medium when it came it was more than well done it was cremated and instead of being a whole steak it was in 4 or 5 chunks would not recomend this pub to anyone and we certainly wont be going again

Meal was disgusting all chips were cold, medium steak was in pieces and well over cooked, had to ask for the rest of my meal and even then got accused of being wrong staff were rude, bun on chicken burger was stale and hard couldnt even eat it batter on chicken was gooey and the lettuce was going brown. Over all a wouldnt even rate this pub i would of rather had a mcdonalds!!!!!

Went for a meal on 28th Dec 2009 and found the food to be very dissapointing, after an hours wait for food it was eventually served and was cold, the bake potato was raw, the steak in the mixed grill was cremated (should have been med rare)…we have spent a lot of money in the yatch and in the past and had some very nice meals but over the last 18 months we have had some very bad experiences and won’t be rushing back there!
