Howard Marks’ Personal Moonshine (Obscure Alcohols)

Howard Marks’ Personal Moonshine

When a man who is infamous for criminal activity and drug notoriety become a figurehead for the building of an upmarket community for young professionals canal-side in the student city of Leeds, one wonders what inspiration he will be bringing to the shores. He’s latest adventure - Azucar bar, a Tequila and Tapas specialist bar restaurant combo in Brewery wharf provides a trendy and more upmarket background to Howard’s new dark secret - his personal Moonshine.

I have to say that I was just gazing at the fantastic selection of drinks at the bar when my eyes stumbled upon a black skull and crossbones bottle. The barman explained it was Howard Marks’ home-brew Moonshine ( a marketing ploy no doubt) but he ushered me to try a third of a shot. The liquor was plainly strong but didn’t knock me out of my chair. In fact I wouldn’t say it was over 100 proof (40%) but it has a good body to it and was somewhat moreish.

Apparently this drink is so rare that only Howard’s establishments stock a bottle each with the contents a closely guarded secret. I will admit to being worried that the moreish quality had a opiate qualities but then i assumed that wouldn’t be something he’d just leave on public display at the bar… or is it? Thanks very much Mr Nice. Please make some more and put it on general sale across the country.

Barblog thumbs up!
